James McCorkle
  also spelled McCorkel, McCorcle  

Fincastle County, Virginia was created in 1772 from Botetourt County and abolished in 1776. It was divided into Montgomery, Washington and Kentucky Counties.

James McCorkle was born about 1720.

He married Elizabeth Rhea. Elizabeth was the daughter of William Rhea.

James and Elizabeth's children probably included:

Samuel McCorkle (1760, married Mary Alison),
James McCorkle, and
William McCorkle.

James was a Presbyterian pastor.

In 1775, James McCorkle was a member of the Fincastle County Committee of Safety.
